We believe you are viewing our website because of God’s intended design for your life today. The Bible says that God has placed eternity in the hearts of everyone, so many people feel that emptiness but don’t realize God is the only one to fill it. They seek to fill it with all sorts of worldly things. If you are seeking God for the first time he can be found, and our goal is to help you find him here. Maybe you have tried church before but need a fresh and exciting encounter through worship, if so our services are filled with people seeking the same thing each Sunday.
Even if you are not sure about God, Church or the whole Christian thing, we welcome you to join us anyway during one of our services. Bring your questions, doubts or concerns we will gladly, prayerfully and respectfully listen to them. Feel free to ask us anything you wish.
Our preaching and teaching is firmly grounded in the Bible because only God’s Word can eternally impact our lives. Our worship is directed toward an audience of One, God Himself, so to express our deep love for him and our thankfulness. Our times together as God’s people are oriented in caring for and loving one another, so that the world will know we are His disciples. We want to Care for Our Community and you.
Uniting together in: UPREACH to God with prayer and worship; OUTREACH to our community with mercy and compassion; and INREACH to one another with love and care.
Making DISCIPLEs in Southern Illinois, throughout America and around the world.

“When I came to Jonesboro First Baptist Church eleven years ago, one of the things that made an impression on me was the willingness of everyone to volunteer and help. That is something you don’t always see in churches.”
Let me say thank you for standing up for your faith and values within the community by letting your voice be heard. One of the ways you did that was in your vocal opposition to the proposed beer tent at the Union County Fair Grounds. When God’s people speak up others listen, but there is a …
Vacation Bible School was always fun as a kid. Sometimes you as an adult, however, it has been announced causing feelings of guilt or remorse. These usually come to those who want to help but are not sure just what to do. There are all kinds of things to do for VBS, but let me share these five with you if you are not volunteering but wish you could.
As a kid growing up in a Southern Baptist Church, when I heard our church was “going to have revival,” I thought how great that was because that meant good dinners at church and nights of staying up late. Sadly for many of the adult Christians in my childhood church, revival meant the same thing to them. Even more sad, is for many the idea of revival has not changed.
I want to ask you to consider your understanding of revival, and what would it mean for you and JFBC (or whatever church you attend) to “have revival?” Read what Dr. Martin Loyd Jones says revival is for a church and Christian.
Ever think much about what God thinks about you? May you don’t believe with all the people in the world that He has much time for you. God however has thoughts for you and your life no matter your age. Just listen as he speaks to Jeremiah because it is His voice speaking to you as well.
“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.” (29:11)
Maybe your like most believers who consider their present circumstances as just the natural results of life decisions. But that is not God’s thoughts.
