Moving from Mouthpiece to Hands of Jesus

Let me say thank you for standing up for your faith and values within the community by letting your voice be heard.  One of the ways you did that was in your vocal opposition to the proposed beer tent at the Union County Fair Grounds.  When God’s people speak up others listen, but there is a way to get people to listen to your message even more.  It happens when you go from being the mouthpiece of Jesus to being the hands of Jesus.  As the old saying goes, “Actions speak much louder than words,” and in this case it is no different.
We have an opportunity to do just that.  We have been asked by a Christian member of the Fair Board to volunteer to collect money at the fair gates on Saturday the 27th.  This can be done in shifts of 2-3 hours at a time.  The more volunteers the less each has to work.  The more volunteers, the louder the message of Jesus is heard.
Honestly, if we do not step up and be the hands and feet of Jesus then we forfeit our right to be heard as the mouthpiece of Jesus.  So, please let me know if you can volunteer on Saturday.  Call the church office or my cell # 618-697-8494

5/3 Tuesday Table Talks

Warnings from Jesus
17 He said to His disciples, “Offenses will certainly come, but woe to the one they come through! 2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck and he were thrown into the sea than for him to cause one of these little ones to stumble. 3 Be on your guard. If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he sins against you seven times in a day, and comes back to you seven times, saying, ‘I repent,’ you must forgive him.”
In this text we find Jesus speaking about Forgiveness, but what is He attempting to teach Peter and the other disciples in regards to Forgiveness.  Is he speaking about the action, or does he have something deeper in mind?

4/26 Tuesday Table Talks

Sometimes I find that God has to grab my attention. At times He does it much like a mom snatching her child up to keep them from running in front of a Mack truck. He smacks me with His Word, or with some statement made by a disciple of His Word. In this instance it was reminding me that we still tend to think like the world. Now, we like to call it “Common Sense” – but one disciple reminded me “Common Sense is Fallen Sense many times.”   Read more…
