Upreach

Upreach through Worship

We join together each Sunday morning to reach up to God and honor Him for His holiness and righteousness. We offer visitors and members the opportunity to worship in one of two identical services on Sunday morning and once that evening. The worship style here is blended, meaning we sing songs ranging from contemporary choruses to traditional hymns. Our worship services are intentionally planned to include various times of prayer, singing praises and thanks to the Lord, opportunities for stewarship and giving, a clear and prise preaching of God’s Word toward practical life application and finally, a time to respond to God. Everyone, no matter how old they are, no matter what they look like or dress like, no matter what their background, and no matter their familiarity with church is welcomed to come and worship here.

Upreach through Prayer

On Wednesday evenings and on other designated days we meet together to ask God to meet various needs and to act upon the request of our members and visitors. It is our desire here at JFBC to have an intentional and effective evangelistic prayer ministry. We have a prayer line available each evening after 5 PM to hear our current prayer list, by calling the office. Our members all desire to see people have a relationship with Jesus Christ, so they regularly pray for those sharing the gospel locally and globally and those hearing the gospel. Our ministries are built upon the foundation of prayer, and the volunteers are encouraged to know they are being prayed for. If there is any anything that you would like for our prayer team to pray for, or you would like to join the team, please feel free to contact us at the office.

Music Ministry

The music ministry here at Jonesboro First Baptist involves all ages. We share God’s message through music in various ways. In our music ministry we blend both our worship services with traditional hymns and contemporary praise songs. They are biblically sound in theology and practical to what we follow as our beliefs as folllowers of Christ.

We have groups that share a variety of styles of sound. Our Praise Team, Students, and Vocal Ensemble all participate in our worship services on a consistent monthly basis.
Throughout the year our Celebration Choir presents special programs for Easter, Memorial Day, Patriotic service around the 4th of July, and an annual Christmas Dinner/Musical called Gift to the Community the 1st weekend of December .

Adult Choir Meets for practice at 4:50 P.M. on Sunday evenings.

Prayer Ministry

Isaiah 56:7 – Even those I will bring to My holy mountain And make them joyful in My house of prayer. Their burnt offerings and their sacrifices will be acceptable on My altar; For My house will be called a house of prayer for all the peoples.”

God works in mighty ways through prayer. Not that we move God in prayer, rather He moves us through that close intimate time with Him. Here at JFBC we believe a strong prayer ministry is vital to the health of the church. We currently have a few different avenues that God is working through.

Various Ministries:

Sunday Mornings:
Many Sunday mornings involve a call to the altar for special moments of prayer time. Some Sundays are devoted solely to prayer for various needs whether political, social, community or personal.

Wednesday Night Prayer Service:
We meet regularly during the middle of the week to discuss the various prayer needs of our church members along with their family, friends and others in the community. Prayer is offered up for: physical needs, financial needs, emotional needs. We pray for those who are going through a difficult time of grieving. We pray for those who are suffering through some sudden and tramatic circumstance. The Lord of the Harvest is asked to send out His people into the community to reach people who have not called upon Jesus to forgive their sins and follow him as a disciple. Receptivity of our efforts, by those same people, to love them and share with them the gospel of Jesus Christ is a constant prayer of our congregation. People who need Jesus’ love and salvation are a high priority on our prayer list.

Prayer Chain:
A phone system in place that allows us to respond to any need of prayer. Once we are informed of a special need, a message is sent out to the members of our church who serve in this ministry. They receive the message and immediately people are calling upon God in regards to the needs of the people.

Also available is a prayer line number to call after hours in order to hear an up to date list of recents prayer needs. To reach this line call 618-833-4021.

Prayer Room:
Something that many members are excited about is our prayer room.  Here, we will be able to have a quiet place for someone or a group of 3-4 people to gather for an intimate time of prayer. This can be done throughout the week. This will allow us to have special days of prayer where individuals can sign up to come for one hour and pray for the various needs our church and community. What excites the pastor the most is that leaders can be in prayer for God’s Spirit to do mighty works during the regular worship services.
